Undergraduate Career at West Texas A&M

At WTAMU, Britton majored in Music Performance, studying under renowned flutist Helen Blackburn. She was a prominent member of the university’s premier ensembles, including the WT Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonic Band. Her academic and musical achievements were marked by several prestigious honors:

  • Athletic Excellence: In addition to her music, Britton was a standout Defender for the Lady Buffs soccer team. She was a regular starter and a multi-year recipient of the CSC Academic All-District honors, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while playing nearly every minute of the season.

Graduate Studies and Professional Goals

After completing her undergraduate degree in 2024, Britton transitioned to graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin to further her flute performance education. Her professional aspirations include:

  • Performing as a professional musician in a major symphony orchestra.
  • Teaching music to inspire future generations of flute players.
  • Advocating for the ability to balance rigorous athletic and artistic disciplines.

Britton has cited the supportive environment at West Texas A&M—where faculty and coaches encouraged her dual pursuit of soccer and music—as a foundational part of her development.

Kyndahl Britton is currently continuing her musical journey at the University of Texas at Austin as a member of the Butler School of Music’s graduate flute studio.

Since beginning her graduate studies, she has become an active performer in the university’s premier instrumental groups. Recent and upcoming performance highlights include:

  • UT Symphony Orchestra: Britton performs with the symphony, which has a 2025–2026 season featuring masterworks by composers such as Richard Strauss and Mozart. She is scheduled for performances at the Bates Recital Hall, including a concert on February 1, 2026.
  • UT Wind Ensemble: She is a member of the prestigious Wind Ensemble, contributing to performances that feature complex contemporary and classical repertoire. This has included high-profile concerts at the Long Center for the Performing Arts and the Bates Recital Hall throughout late 2025.
  • Ensemble Collaborations: In addition to large ensembles, she participates in collaborative events like the Butler Holiday Concert, which brings together the chamber orchestra and choirs.

At UT Austin, she continues to refine her artistry, building on the foundation of her “Top Scholar” status and athletic-artistic balance established during her time at West Texas A&M. Her graduate work focuses on advanced flute performance, preparing her for a future career in professional orchestral playing and music education.
